Home Sleep Criteria

Do I meet the criteria for a “HST” Home Sleep Test?

Before you consider getting an “HST” you must meet certain requirements and some of these are listed below. Not all persons wanting a “HST” will be a candidate for one.

If you have any of these conditions below you will not qualify. Please note: there may be other medical conditions not listed that could disqualify you for a “HST”.

Have you been told that you may have one or more of these conditions?

Do I have COPD? Do I have RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome)?
Do I have any cardiac disease? Do I have a neuromuscular disease?
Do I have a neurodegenerative disease? Do I have a history of CVA? (Stroke)
Do I have nocturnal seizures? Do I have nocturnal desaturation?
Am I oxygen dependent? Do I have central sleep apnea?
Do I have narcolepsy? Do I have circadian rhythm disorder?
Do I have parasomnia? Do I have idiopathic hypersomnia?
Do I have REM (rapid eye movement) disorder? Have I had two failed attempts of a Home Sleep Study?
Do I have obesity hypoventilation syndrome? (A condition that does not allow you to breathe normally without having COPD)
Do I have any medical condition such as arthritis or vision problems that would allow me to not place sensors in the proper place on my body?
Do I have difficulty understanding complicated directions without having assistance to apply sensors to my body?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you will not qualify for a home sleep study. Instead, we can test you in the sleep lab which allows us to test more with greater accuracy. There may be other factors that may prevent you from being a candidate for a Home Sleep Study or qualify you for one. Please consult your physician to be sure if a Home Sleep Study is the right choice for you.
